Map 450

(Fondazione Palazzo Boncompagni, 2022)

Pope Gregory XIII was a fundamental figure for the city of Bologna and his “tracks” can be found not only in the Palace that was his home until his ascent to the papal throne, but also in many other places in the city of Bologna.

Some churches, villas and halls of power carry the sign of his papacy and his works, either by the presence of statues, images or symbols that refer to him directly or to the Boncompagni family, and also because he or his family members were responsible for the construction of prestigious buildings in the Bologna area.

To follow in Gregory XIII’s footsteps, the artists Ester Grossi and Amalia Mora, who have been living for some time in the artistic residency at Palazzo Boncompagni, have created a very special map distributed to all visitors to the Palace.
